Reiki Can help your Pet

Anytime for a well-being balancing:

Just like humans where we require periodic balancing to bring back the OM in life, your pet can benefit from Reiki healing at any time. Reiki can help let go of trapped energies to help expand that energetic space – which we sometimes forget due to stress and disruptions in life (internal or external).  Even if you don’t know what the problem is, Reiki can benefit.

When they are ill:

Reiki helps the healing process and works in complementary with any type of medical intervention.
When they are young or old:

You can use Reiki on an animal of any age or situation.
When they have been through a trauma or have injuries:

Animals can use loving energy after they’ve experienced any type of abuse, loss, or move, or if they seem to exhibit depression or other behavioral disorder. For example, dogs suffering from separation anxiety can benefit from Reiki in providing great support to emotional healing and in releasing emotional issues from the past.

Animals can also benefit from Reiki during postoperative healing to help with recovery.  Reiki can help support healing even in injuries from a long time ago.
Help ease the transition in the final days:

No matter how severe the illness, Reiki can help sustain a good quality of life in the finals.

Here is an amazing story about a Holistic Health team, where medical and holistic healing come together to help a dog in the last days of his journey in life.

What to expect:

Reiki animal healing does not involve the administration of any drug, just a gentle physical contact with the animal, so it is unlikely to do your pet any harm. Animals love Reiki and it will work for them.

Reiki is recommended for treating pain, anxiety and behavioral problems. The therapy can be calming and may help an agitated animal become a more acceptable pet.

Reiki can be carried out where the animal is most comfortable.

Animals know reiki better than we do – they are more sensitive and in tune to energy.

Unlike humans, they may not sit or lie around – but will be interactive and be forward in showing you where it needs reiki.

Often times, they are drawn to this healing energy and will come forward to you (a cat will come sit on lap, a dog will come to you, come lie near you, come and investigate, show you where the pain is. With time, they may lie down and fall into calmness and total relaxation.

I have seen this with my pet clients. Once I begin the healing session, the animal immediately comes to lie down close to me, showing the willingness for Reiki healing.  During the session, they may get up several times, walk away and come back to nudge me. Sometimes, they may do something out of the routine such as drinking waters when they do not generally drink water frequently.  After a Reiki treatment, the animal can be in total relaxation where they sleep soundly.  It is truly amazing how every animal differs in their response to Reiki.

Reiki Treatment for Pets

Reiki works well with animals for the same reasons it works well on children and people of all ages.

It is of utmost importance to do Reiki animal healing on your pets as soon as you sense any changes in behavior habits; i.e., temperament, eating, elimination and general malaise.

*NOTE: the quicker you treat animals, the quicker their return to health and balance. Since animals can’t speak, we need to be aware of subtle changes in our pet’s behavior. If you come home and your pet seems lethargic and unconcerned with your presence, or licking itself more than ordinary, or doesn’t have energy to eat, play, etc., it could be they are not feeling well.  Reiki works in complementary with Vet and Medical care.  Always seek professional medical care if you are uncertain if it is an emergency.

Animal Reiki has been observed in:

  • American holistic veterinary medicine in
  • animal wellness magazine
  • animal sanctuary

“Animals are grateful for this healing energy.  Animals in wildlife will also show up for reiki treatments. When 1 animal is sick, it affect those around them. Same as humans being sick, families are affected by this.   Animals are ahead of humans as they are in tune with compassion, care and support for each other.  Animals respond to your loving touch and intention.   Reiki is another way to help your animals feel better.”

Excerpt from a radio interview with Kathleen Prisad, a Reiki Practitioner and author of “Animal Reiki: Using Energy to Heal the Animals in Your Life”.
